Hi David,
The false key is used in cases where you have more than one area (alias) for a given domain (table), and one of its foreign keys makes sense for one (or more) of those areas but not for the other(s). In other words, you may want some of the areas of a given domain to be related with a certain table, while the others aren’t. In the areas where a relation is unwanted, the foreign key relative to that relation should be changed to a false key.
